The history of TRIAS Mikroelektronik GmbH is:

1989
Foundation of TRIAS based on a representative agreement with
MIETEC, later Alcatel Microelectronics (a European semiconductor supplier for mixed signal, analoge/digital ASIC for automotive-, telecom- and industrial-applications).

The sales territory that has been assigned to TRIAS has systematically been
expanded with high volume ASIC projects like :

  • Diagnostics Interface IC according to DIN-ISO 9141
  • CAN Bus Transceiver according to DIN-ISO 11898 ( both for Trucks)
  • Controller IC for central locking systems in cars
  • An Anti-Skid Controller IC and others

  • 1990
Alcatel Microelectronics offers its first Telecom ASSP (Application Specific Standard Product) [ISDN Devices] to the market.

TRIAS wins the first project for the ISDN-NT single chip solution.

    1992
TRIAS founds the business unit “CAE/EDA Software tools”.

It starts with the distribution of the
ISDATA product LOG/iC (a PLD/CPLD and FPGA compiler).

Start of the business unit “Universal Programming Equipment”. TRIAS is assigned as the Distributor of
SMS (Manufacturer of the SPRINT Programmers), today called DATA I/O.

    1993
TRIAS expands the services in the ASIC business unit with offering ASIC Design Services through
FS Chip Design (FS), today ATMEL Duisburg.

For FS TRIAS builds-up the market for High Frequency Devices in the range of 433MHz to 2,4GHz.

    1994
Distribution contract with the French EDA Vendor
IST, (VHDL/Verilog Synthesis for ASIC and FPGA)

Chip Alliance (A Network of ASIC Design Center in Europe). The design capacity covers more than 100 ASIC designers.

    2001
Chip Express gives the Award 2001 to TRIAS as the most successful Representative in Europe.

An ASIC Design Center in Taiwan becomes a member of the
Chip Alliance, our important interface to the world’s largest silicon foundry company TSMC.

    The long term relation with
Alcatel microelectronics (now one part is owned by AMIS, the other by ST microelectronics) is terminated out of strategic reasons by Dec. 31st, 2001.
